This year we have had our third show at the Visitors Gallery at Harold Hilliers Garden, Jermyn's Lane, Romsey, Hampshire. Eighteen members of the group took part. The work was a diverse mixture of paintings, drawings, etchings, lino cut prints and pyrographs.
Our most recent speaker was Jindra Jehu, the Dorset based artist whose approach is to draw en plein air, particularly on the shore around the Jurassic coast. Her large scale drawings use mixed media and a variety of unconventional application methods. She feels compelled to draw; she said that drawing was an itch she had to scratch. Her work is currently touring the West in the exhibition, Drawing on Dorset. Recently we held a day long life drawing workshop with the model Joanna Battershall from Chichester. IN MEMORIAM. In the past two years we have lost two of our most respected members. Angela Vyvyan, whose intense coloured semi abstract works had featured strongly in all of our annual shows, will be missed. Having trained as an architect and worked in Argentina before devoting herself to art, her work had an individual approach and featured in many private and public collections. Diana Varndell passed away very suddenly this year. A supportive and longstanding member of 2d3dSouth , at one time chair of the group, Diana's work was vibrant and reflected her personality. She was much travelled, and her early work showed her interest in other cultures. In the past two years her work was represented by Kevis House Gallery in Petworth, where she enjoyed justifiable success .
